Al-Nuayman ibn Amr war ein Gefährte des Propheten Muhammad (s.). Er war einer der frühen Muslime und stand bei den Verteidigungsschlachten von Badr , Uhud und bei der Grabenschlacht auf der Seite des Islam. Er gehörte zu den Banu Nadschar in Medina und heiratete eine Schwester von Abdurrahman ibn Auf und später Umm Kulthum bint Uqba.
