Sir Alexander Arnold Constantine Issigonis (Greek: σερ Άλεκ, Αλέξανδρος Αρνόλδος Κωνσταντίνος Ισηγόνης) CBE FRS RDI (18 November 1906 – 2 October 1988) was a British-Greek automotive designer.
Sir Alec Issigonis was a British automobile designer who created the best-selling, economical Mini and the perennially popular Morris Minor. The son of a Greek merchant, Issigonis immigrated to London in 1922 during the war between Greece and Turkey. After studying engineering, he joined Morris.

Und vermutlich ist es kein Zufall, dass einige der Konstruktionsprinzipien schliesslich auch im 1959 erstmals präsentierten Mini (Austin Seven, Morris Mini Minor) Einzug hielten.
In 1959, in the midst of post-war austerity and fuel shortage, Sir Alec Issigonis ingeniously turned a crisis into an opportunity. He addressed saving fuel as both an engineering and design challenge, which he solved through what became a trademark of Mini: the creative use of space.
