He was the head of the Imperial House of France from 1926 until his death. He thus bore the title of Prince Napoleon and was considered by the Bonapartists as ‘Napoleon VI’. In 1949 he married Alix de Foresta, daughter of the Count and Countess de Foresta. Four children were born of this marriage:
