  1. On September 18, 1902, the only lynching ever to be documented in Oregon occurred in Coos Bay, of Alonzo Tucker. He was accused of raping a white woman and escaping from jail. According to newspaper accounts, Tucker was discovered by two young boys who began shooting him with airguns.
