Anthony Michael Mortimer (* 21. Oktober 1970) war Mitglied und Haupt- Songwriter der britischen Boygroup East 17, mit der er zwischen 1992 und 1997 sieben Top-5- Singles und vier Hit-Alben hatte. Er widmete sich komplett dem Songwriting, als die Band sich 1997 auflöste.
Anthony Michael Mortimer (born 21 October 1970) is a British singer, songwriter and record producer from London. He is a former member of the boy band East 17 , who were originally active from 1991 to 1997 and sold over 20 million records worldwide.
Anthony Mortimer obtained his BA from the University of Leeds (UK) and his Ph.D from Case Western Reserve University (USA). He taught at universities in Croatia, Italy, the United States and Germany before coming to Switzerland as assistant professor of English at the University of Geneva.

East 17 galt unter den typischen 90er Boybands als die „bösen Buben“. Die Band wurde 1992 von Tony Mortimer mit Brian Harvey, John Hendy und Terry Coldwell gegründet. Der Name der Band setzt sich aus ihrem Herkunftsort und der Postleitzahl von Walthamstow zusammen.

Professor Emeritus Anthony Mortimer continues to be productive seventeen years after his retirement (2006). His verse translations of Du Bellay and Ronsard: Selected Poems have just been published by Oxford University Press.
