Arthur Christ Agnos (born Arthouros Agnos; September 1, 1938) is an American politician. He served as the 39th mayor of San Francisco, California from 1988 to 1992 and as the Regional Head of the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development from 1993 to 2001.

1. Dez. 2022 · Art Agnos, who served as San Francisco mayor in the late 1980s, wrote a letter to the judge asking for leniency for Victor Makras, a real estate mogul convicted of bank fraud. Makras is also backed by Willie Brown, other politicos and 190 other supporters.

Mr. Agnos began his career as human rights social worker in low income public housing with the San Francisco Housing Authority. He was elected to the California Assembly in 1975 where he served as Chair of the Joint Legislative Audit Committee, Ways and Means Health and Welfare Subcommittee.
