Ayabaca is a town in the highlands of the Piura Region in northwestern Peru, near the border with Ecuador. It is located in the Ayabaca Province and is capital of that province and Ayabaca District, to the southeast of the Ecuadorian border town of Macará.
La provincia de Ayabaca es una de las ocho provincias que conforman el departamento de Piura en el norte del Perú. Limita por el norte y por el este con Ecuador, por el sur con las provincias de Morropón y Huancabamba, y por el oeste con las provincias de Piura y Sullana.
Der Distrikt Ayabaca liegt in der peruanischen Westkordillere im Nordosten der Provinz Ayabaca. Er hat eine Längsausdehnung in NW-SO-Richtung von etwa 60 km sowie eine maximale Breite von etwa 30 km. Die östliche Distriktgrenze verläuft entlang der kontinentalen Wasserscheide.
Die Provinz Ayabaca (alternativer Name: Ayavaca) ist eine der acht Provinzen, welche die Verwaltungsregion Region Piura im Nordwesten Perus bilden. Die Provinz Ayabaca erstreckt sich über eine Fläche von 5230,68 km². Beim Zensus 2017 lag die Einwohnerzahl bei 119.287.
