Gô Ayano who I never really recognize (take that as a compliment!) and the always great Ryûhei Matsuda are both fascinating characters and carry their roles very well. So, overall I wished I'd liked this more but as it is, it's rather a disappointment.

Beneath the Shadow has a dark, brooding story that can be deciphered in many different ways. The theme of the movie is loneliness, featuring a sad and sympathetic main character in need of companionship.
