23. Apr. 1996 · The bassist and songwriter of the disco group Chic died in a Japanese hotel room on April 18, 1996. He was in Japan with his partner Nile Rodgers, who co-founded Chic with him in the '70s. They co-wrote and co-produced hits like "Le Freak", "Dance, Dance, Dance" and "Good Times". Madonna's early sound was also influenced by Chic.

Er erlangte vor allem in Musikerkreisen Berühmtheit und genoss hier höchsten Respekt.
Bernard Edwards was a co-founder of Chic, a funk rock band that created hits such as "Dance, Dance, Dance", "Everybody Dance", "Le Freak" and "I Want Your Love". He also wrote and produced songs for other artists like Diana Ross, Sister Sledge and Fonzi Thornton. He died of pneumonia in 1996 and was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2005.
