Berthe Marie Pauline Morisot (* 14. Januar 1841 in Bourges; † 2. März 1895 in Paris ), auch Berthe Manet, war eine französische Malerin des Impressionismus. Sie gilt neben Mary Cassatt (1844–1926), Eva Gonzalès (1847–1883) und Marie Bracquemond (1840–1916) als eine der vier bedeutendsten Impressionistinnen des neunzehnten Jahrhunderts.
Berthe Morisot war die erste Frau in der Gruppe der Impressionisten. 1874 nahm sie mit neun Werken an der ersten Impressionistenausstellung teil und war bis 1886, mit Ausnahme von 1879, an allen Ausstellungen dieser Gruppe vertreten. Im Dezember 1874 heiratete sie Eugène Manet, den Bruder Édouard Manets. Im Folgejahr wurde ihre Tochter Julie Manet geboren.

This is also the first solo show featuring this artist staged by a national museum since the retrospective at the Musée de l’Orangerie in 1941.
In 1868 Berthe met Édouard Manet, for whom she posed in The Balcony (Paris, Musée d’Orsay), which was shown at the Salon the following year. Thereafter Manet and Morisot were bound by a close artistic relationship for the rest of their lives, which was enhanced when Berthe married the painter’s brother Eugène Manet in 1874.

Her interest in art began as a teenager when, after the family moved to Paris in 1855, she started studying and copying masterpieces on display in the Louvre.
