Forget all your preconceived notions about the blues. This album redefines the art form. The songs are all original compositions using the the time honoured three chord blues changes, but there all similarity to the traditional blues ends. The title tune best describes the concept for the entire album. The idea was to keep the music grounded ...
With songs as good as the gospel “Holy Moses”, the adventurous and most bluesy track, “Sounds So Sweet” and the excellent tracks “Second Chance”, “Politics” and the superb arrangement to “The Sky’s The Limit”, who knows? Fans should know this cd is not a 12 bar blues album or even a mainstream hybrid R&B cd in the vein of Bonnie Raitt. .
In 1980 Blood, Sweat & Tears issued the MCA album Nuclear Blues, which also included Thomas. Later in the decade Columbia issued the double live Blood, Sweat & Tears album Live And Improvised again with Thomas. In 2004, Clayton-Thomas left New York for Toronto and launched an All-Star 10-piece band.
