Makem wurde zunächst durch Bobby Clancy (1927–2002), einen weiteren Clancy-Bruder, ersetzt. Bobby war selbst bereits als Musiker erfolgreich. Er verließ die Band nach kurzer Zeit, kehrte jedoch nach Liams Ausscheiden zurück. Darüber hinaus stieß der Neffe der Brüder, Robbie O’Connell, zur Gruppe.

The most notable subsequent member to join was the fourth Clancy brother, Bobby. The group continued in various formations until Paddy Clancy's death in 1998. The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem significantly influenced the young Bob Dylan and other artists, including Christy Moore and Paul Brady.
