31. Jan. 2015 · Catherine Howard’s short life is one of the great cautionary tales of Henry VIII’s reign; there is about it something strangely pathetic and small, but also powerful and moving. Catherine was neither particularly beautiful or intelligent, but she was a charming, flirtatious girl who rose, virtually overnight, from obscurity to become queen of England.

Das war Katharina Howard (Catherine Howard). Die Ehe hielt anderthalb Jahre (Juli 1540 - Februar 1542). Katharina erlitt das gleiche Schicksal wie Heinrichs zweite Ehefrau, Anna Boleyn: Sie wurde wegen angeblichen Ehebruchs hingerichtet. Am 13. Februar 1542 wurde sie geköpft. Zum Verhängnis wurde ihr dabei wohl auch, dass die Ehe kinderlos blieb.
Catherine Howard (between 1520 and 1525 – February 13, 1542), also called Katherine or Kathryn [1] was the fifth wife of Henry VIII of England (1540-1542). She is sometimes known by his reference to her as "the rose without a thorn." Her birth date and place of birth is unknown but is occasionally cited as 1521, probably in London.
