Cecil Gant (* 4. April 1913 in Nashville, Tennessee; † 4. Februar 1951 in Nashville, Tennessee) war ein US-amerikanischer Bluessänger und Pianist. Leben und Wirken. In den 1930er Jahren bis zum Zweiten Weltkrieg und seiner Einberufung zur US Army machte Gant in den Clubs seiner Heimat Musik, meist von einer Rhythmusgruppe begleitet.

Cecil Gant (April 4, 1913 – February 4, 1951) was an American blues singer, songwriter and pianist, whose recordings of both ballads and "fiery piano rockers" were successful in the mid- and late 1940s, and influenced the early development of rock and roll.
American blues pianist and singer (born April 4, 1913 in Nashville, Tennessee, died February 4, 1951 in the same city). Cecil Gant recorded his first single in 1944, I Wonder / Cecil Boogie. He went on to release numerous sides on labels such as King, Imperial, Dot and Swing Time/Down Beat before dying of pneumonia.

Cecil Gant had a massive hit in 1944 with ‘I Wonder’, which went to No.1 in the Billboard R&B charts and made No.20 in the Hot 100. A hard rocking boogie-woogie pianist with a voice that worked well with a Blues ballad, Cecil had his big hit while he was in the Army and his concerts, where he was billed as ‘Private Gant, the GI Sing-sation’, attracted an integrated audience.
