Chatham (/ ˈ tʃ æ t ə m /) is a town in Barnstable County, Massachusetts, United States. Chatham is located at the southeast tip of Cape Cod and has historically been a fishing community. First settled by the English in 1664, the township was originally called Monomoit based on the indigenous population's term for the region.
Its beautiful beaches, harbors, coastal scenes and its interesting village shops make it a popular day-trip destination as well as a top-notch vacation area. In 2007 Chatham was recognized by the National Trust for Historic Preservation as one of America’s Dozen Distinctive Destinations .

15. Juni 2022 · Chatham is the town located on the “elbow” of Cape Cod, and is undoubtedly the most picturesque town on the Cape. While it’s become popular as a shopping and dining destination, there’s also so much more to this adorable little town than just that.
Chatham is blessed with beautiful scenery, as evidenced by our Conservation and Preservation areas, and our many Nature Trails and Parks. Tours are available for Wildlife/Birding enthusiasts. The Scenic Landmarks are abundant and well worth a casual stroll on a sunny afternoon.
