Mick Ronson starb am 29. April 1993 im Alter von nur 46 Jahren an Leberkrebs. Insbesondere in seiner Heimatstadt Hull ist er unvergessen, dort wurde ihm zu Ehren eine Bühne, die „Mick Ronson Memorial Stage“, errichtet. Der Rolling Stone listete Ronson 2011 auf Rang 41 der 100 größten Gitarristen aller Zeiten.
