Cheetah were an Australian pop rock band formed in 1976 in Melbourne, by the English-born sisters, Chrissie (born 25 November 1955) and Lyndsay Hammond (born 14 May 1954). The Hammond family had emigrated to Australia on the liner Strathnaver departing Tilbury on 10 November 1958.

Chrissie Hammond portrayed Mary Magdalene, while Russell Hitchcock and Graham Russell were in the chorus. With the show they toured Australia and New Zealand for 18 months. In 1958, as a three-year-old, English-born Hammond had migrated to Melbourne with her family, including older sister Lyndsay Hammond, who also became a rock singer.

Hammond, Chrissie (1956-Present) She is a singer who joined up with the singers Graham Russell and Russell Hitchcock and helped form the band Air Supply in 1976. She left the band before their first Australian hit and went on to form Cheetah which toured with U2, Jackson Browne, Gary Moore and Neil Young.

Chrissie Hammond, Russell Hitchcock and Graham Russell met in May 1975 while performing in the Australian production of the Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice musical, Jesus Christ Superstar. [3] [4] With Hammond and Hitchcock on vocals and Russell on guitar, they formed Air Supply as a harmony vocal group in Melbourne. [5] .
