In 1995, Neil took a break from composing pop songs and turned his attention to classical music for the first time since his days at Juilliard. The result was the acclaimed “Classically Sedaka”, where Neil adapted classical melodies by Chopin, Rachmaninov, Tchaikovsky, Schummann, & Puccini and crafted original lyrics for each piece.
Sedaka blev født i Brooklyn den 13. marts 1939. Hans far, Mac Sedaka, var taxachauffør og søn af tyrkiske immigranter; hans mor, Eleanor (Appel) Sedaka, var af polsk-russisk afstamning. Han demonstrerede første gang sine musikalske evner i skolekoret i 2. klasse, og da hans lærer sendte ham hjem med en seddel om at han burde gå til spil.

Biographie [ modifier | modifier le code ] Sedaka s’engage dans la musique avec l’ambition de devenir pianiste de concert ; mais au cours de ses études, il se tourne vers une musique plus vivante, et abandonne bientôt la musique classique au profit de la Pop-music .
