Claudine Gay (born August 4, 1970) [2] is an American political scientist and academic administrator who is the Wilbur A. Cowett Professor of Government and of African and African-American Studies at Harvard. Gay's research addresses American political behavior, including voter turnout and politics of race and identity.
Dr. Gay is the first Black president and second woman to lead Harvard. She faced calls for her removal over her testimony on antisemitism.
Claudine Gay arrived in Cambridge in the fall of 1992 as a first-year graduate student, lugging the things that seemed most essential to her success: a futon, a Mac Classic II, and a cast iron skillet for frying plantains. The futon, no doubt, was standard grad-student gear.
