Anita O’Day. Anita O’Day (2005) Anita O’Day (* 18. Oktober 1919 in Chicago, Illinois; † 23. November 2006 in West Hollywood, Kalifornien; eigentlich Anita Belle Colton) war eine amerikanische Jazzsängerin. Sie war „eine der größten Swing-Sängerinnen ihrer Generation“ und verfügte über Charisma und Improvisationstalent. [1]

5. Feb. 2020 · 2864. Following her explosive early 1940s spell with Gene Krupa’s band, the first half of the 1950s was a golden time for Anita O’Day. Working with Norman Granz, she made several albums, all with well-chosen material, on which she was backed by top session musicians as well as some of the best West Coast jazzmen of the era.
