The third album, STRICTLY PERSONAL, is released in 1981 and introduces Coz Canler as Lead Guitarist. Underrated on its release, Strictly Personal, includes “In the Nighttime” and “Bop” and remains a fan favorite. In 1983, Mike Skill rejoins the lineup on Bass.

Auf der Produktion Strictly Personal von 1981 war statt Skill der Gitarrist Coz Canler zu hören. 1983 kam Skill aber wieder zurück und ersetzte Cole. Im selben Jahr konnten die Romantics mit dem Album In Heat und den dazugehörigen Singles Talking in Your Sleep und One in a Million (1984) ihre größten Erfolge nicht nur in den USA, sondern auch in Europa verbuchen.

The album features members Wally Palmar, Mike Skill, Coz Canler and drummer Clem Burke (a founding member of Blondie). They were joined by their original drummer, Jimmy Marinos, as well as drummer Johnny “Bee” Badanjek with a supporting cast that included keyboardists Eddie Hawrysch (Black Crowes) and Luis Resto, among others.
