    History. The band was formed in 1955 at Abraham Lincoln High School in Brooklyn, New York, and was known first as the Linc-Tones, [1] a name inspired by the school's name.   4. Piano prodigy Neil Sedaka and falsetto specialist Jay Siegel recruited lead tenor Eddie Rapkin, Cynthia Zolotin, and Hank Medress (born November 19, 1938) from choral class to form The Linc-Tones. They squeezed rehearsals around Neil's piano practice (he surprisingly usually sang bass).

  5. The group was led by Neil Sedaka, who would go on to a distinguished career as a songwriter and performer; he was joined in the Linc-Tones by Hank Medress, Eddie Rabkin, and Cynthia Zolotin. By the time the group made their recording debut in 1956, Rabkin had left, and Jay Siegel took his place.
