The Czech language is a Slavic language spoken by people in the Czech Republic. Ten million people speak it. It is very similar to the Slovak language; the differences between these two languages are small enough that speakers of Czech and Slovak usually understand each other.

The Czech Wikipedia ( Czech: Česká Wikipedie) is the Czech language edition of Wikipedia.    This Wikipedia contains 507,102 articles, 2,057 active users, and 32 administrators. It was created on May 3, 2002  on a request of a Czech editor of the Esperanto Wikipedia.  However, at that time, Wikipedia ran on UseMod software.

With an estimated population of 10,516,707 as of 2022, compared to 9.3 million at the beginning of the 20th century, the population growth of the Czech Republic has been limited, due to low fertility rates and loss of population in and around World Wars I and II. Population loss during World War I was approximately 350,000.
