PICASSO’S VILLA LA CALIFORNIE (2006–2018) was exhibited at Musée en Herbe in Paris in 2018. Visitors could walk from room to room to witness the extent of Pablo Picasso's creativity in April, 1956. SEE PRINTS. MATISSE’S PALETTE KNIFE. As a graduation gift Damian’s college professor gave him Matisse’s palette knife (which Matisse had given to Alice B. Toklas). Since then Damian has visited snd painted almost all of Matisse’s studios in Paris and the South of France.

Elwes has said that, when he paints an artist’s studio, he wants to learn from someone he admires. His images of Haring and Basquiat’s studios therefore hold a certain personal significance.
