Dave Shogren, one of the original founding members of the rock group the Doobie Brothers, died in his sleep Tuesday (Dec. 14, 1999) at his home in California. He was 49.

1. Dez. 2020 · Dave Shogren, who played bass and co-founded the band in the early 70s, passed away in 1999 from unknown causes. However, pneumonia might have been the cause, according to Shogren's father, as per the Tampa Bay Times .
In 1970 they teamed up with singer, guitarist, and songwriter Patrick Simmons and bassist Dave Shogren. Simmons had belonged to several area groups (among them "Scratch", an acoustic trio with future Doobies bassist Tiran Porter ) and also performed as a solo artist.

The Doobie Brothers are an American rock band from San Jose, California. Formed in the fall of 1970, the group was originally a quartet that featured lead vocalist and guitarist Tom Johnston, guitarist and second vocalist Patrick Simmons, bassist Dave Shogren and drummer John Hartman.
