William DeWolf Hopper (March 30, 1858 – September 23, 1935) was an American actor, singer, comedian, and theatrical producer. A star of vaudeville and musical theater , he became best known for performing the popular baseball poem " Casey at the Bat ".

DeWolf Hopper Sr. (1858-1935) was an American actor who performed the popular baseball poem "Casey at the Bat" for almost 40 years. He also appeared in films such as Don Quixote (1915) and Sunshine Dad (1916), and had six marriages and a son, William Hopper.

Serendipitously, Gunter happened to be friends with famed stage actor De Wolf Hopper, who, in August of 1888, was appearing at the McCaull Opera Company in New York City in the comic opera “Prince Methusalem.”
(1858–1935). U.S. actor and comedian De Wolf Hopper was born William De Wolf Hopper in New York City. He is best remembered for his recitations of Ernest Thayer’s poem “Casey at the Bat” and for starring in Gilbert and Sullivan’s comic operas, including The Mikado, Patience, and H.M.S. Pinafore. He was married to gossip columnist Hedda Hopper.
22. Sept. 2008 · DeWolf Hopper was a comic musical actor who performed in dozens of Broadway shows and became known for his recitation of the baseball poem "Casey at the Bat". He appeared in the Sesquicentennial pageant "Freedom" in 1926, where he played William Penn and sang ancient Rome scenes. He died in 1935 at age 77.
DeWolf Hopper stars as the mad knight Alonso Quijano, who sets out to right the wrongs of the world with his faithful Sancho Panza. The film is based on Miguel de Cervantes' classic novel and directed by Edward Dillon.
