The Volatile is an infected human that became extremely irradiated inside of their damaged suit, causing them to liquefy, giving the Volatile a slimy green appearance. Radioactive gas seeps out of numerous cracks and holes in their suit, and the visor has been completely smashed.
Radiation Cloud
•The Radiation Cloud is a passive ability that buffs nearby commons, heals nearby specials, and damages survivors, while also temporarily blocking them from healing. (Temporary health is not blocked.)
Radburst
•Creates a radioactive AoE blast that does up to 10 damage, blocks healing for a longer duration, revives any nearby dead player-controlled zombies within range (Except for the Overlord, Boilers, and other Volatiles.), and leaves behind puddles of radioactive goop. These radioactive goop puddles will deal damage-over-time and block healing to any survivors standing inside of them.
Claw
•A basic melee attack that does 10 damage per-hit.
•Consider staying near your teammates; your sluggish speed and obvious radiation cloud makes you an easy target by your lonesome.
•The Radburst can resurrect all dead specials in-range, use it to revive a failed push, or keep one running.
•Your Radburst and Radiation cloud cause healing denial, which is excellent at denying a MedPak deployment.
•Try finding choke-points where many common zombies are likely to funnel through, to maximize your buffing potential.
•Listen for the Volatile's signature radioactive clicking, and watch for their large glowing green cloud.
•Be sure to kill any Volatiles before trying to heal yourself or teammates. They can very easily deny a MedPak deployment, or a MedStation.
•If a Volatile has Radbursted, avoid walking through the radioactive puddles left behind, especially when low on health. They can deny you from healing at a very critical moment.
•You can use sources of temporary health, such as a Cola or Energy Drink, to gain some quick survivability when facing a Volatile whilst low on health. Their radiation cannot block temporary health; only sources of permanent health.
•The Volatile was voice-acted by user "JesseBlox".
•The Volatile used to have an ability called "Goo Bomb", which shot out a sticky glob that left a trail which sped up zombies walking over it, and would temporarily encase any directly-hit survivors in goo. This was removed since Volatile players used it to get in, Radburst, and die, or just fire it with reckless abandon to try and encase a survivor. It was rarely used to spearhead a push as intended, and was considered to make the Volatile too flexible for offense when it was used correctly.
•In development, before the "Goo Bomb", the Volatile instead had an ability called "Rad Wave", which shot out a radioactive wave that could phase through walls, and would block healing on any hit survivors for a considerable duration. It was quickly found to be too annoying to fight against, and way too effective at denying healing from a distance.
•Another cut ability before the "Goo Bomb" was a "Radpuke" ability, the functioned very similar to the Boiler's puke ability, except that it dealt more direct damage, and would inflict "trauma damage", effectively a debuff to maximum health that would slowly decay over-time, but could be removed instantly with a Scrapkit.
The Scavenger is presumed to be an infected survivor, who still carries both their scavenged items, and survivor instincts. Upon taking damage, the Scavenger will get a boost to their speed, and will run away from the survivors, requiring that they be chased down to be defeated.
