The success of the ex Beneke band (it was first called “The Glenn Miller Band under the direction of Tex Beneke”) was tremendous. Almost from the start it shat- tered all sorts of records as it traveled from coast to coa st in one of the most triumphant tours in the history of dancebandom.
Gordon Lee "Tex" Beneke (/ ˈ b ɛ n ə k i / BEN-ə-kee; February 12, 1914 – May 30, 2000) was an American saxophonist, singer, and bandleader. His career is a history of associations with bandleader Glenn Miller and former musicians and singers who worked with Miller.
