The Mar-Keys. Rhythm & blues group, formed 1958 in Memphis, Tennessee. The Mar-Keys (originally named The Royal Spades) were the backing band on many early Stax releases but also recorded singles of their own. In 1962 the rhythm section more or less evolved into Booker T & The MG's and later the horn section into The Memphis Horns.

Charles "Packy" Axton was a founding member of The Mar-Keys (and the son/nephew of the founders of Stax Records), and is the likely co-writer here. (Strangely, the tune doesn't appear in BMI's online data base, and all other releases of the album credit it to only the surnames, so I can't definitively prove this.)
