History. The line-up formed in 1964, when Don Baskin (October 9, 1946–October 22, 2019; vocalist, guitar) and Bob Gonzalez (bass guitar), both originally from the outfit Lenny Lee and the Nightmen, united with a local group called the Pharaohs.
Don Baskin, the lead singer of the San Jose rock group the Syndicate of Sound, died on Oct. 22, 2019, according to a post on the band’s Facebook page. Baskin, who sang the lead on the band’s 1966 garage-rock classic “Little Girl,” was 73.
