The teaching of Downing’s undergraduates is shared between the University and the College. University faculties and departments hold lectures and practical classes, attended by students from all colleges. Individual or small-group teaching is provided by the College, taught by our Fellows and by those from elsewhere in the University.
Downing College accepts students in all subjects taught at the University of Cambridge. Our students live, learn and work together within the supportive College environment. Our highly respected Fellows are dedicated and enthusiastic teachers whose ground-breaking work expands horizons and opens new vistas of knowledge.
At the two mini roundabouts, go straight on at the first, and turn right at the second. After 400 metres there is a large crossroads where on your right there is a large church. Turn left at this junction onto Regent Street and continue for 300 metres. You will see Downing College located on your left-hand side.
Downing College, dating from the early 1800s, has a unique setting amidst 20 acres of lawns and trees. While the college environment itself is quiet and peaceful, the museums, shops and River Cam in the very heart of Cambridge is only a few minutes walk away. Downing College is an ideal location for visitors on a leisure break or in Cambridge on business.
