Irving Sidney „Duke“ Jordan (* 1. April 1922 in New York City; † 8. August 2006 in Valby, Dänemark) war ein US-amerikanischer Jazz-Pianist. Nach achtjährigem Klavierunterricht (1930 bis 1938) begann 1941 seine professionelle Laufbahn in der Band von Coleman Hawkins. 1946 spielte er bei Roy Eldridge und Teddy Walters.

2. Aug. 2020 · Duke Jordan was a pianist whose work with the saxophonist Charlie Parker endures in the jazz pantheon. Jordan was regarded as one of the great early bebop pianists, the sound that he helped to create in the postwar era was something new, and it remains a cornerstone of jazz.
Born : April 01, 1922 in New York City, New York. Died : August 08, 2006 in Valby, Denmark. First major appearence as sideman for Coleman Hawkins in 1941. One of the bop pioneers he was a member of Charlie Parker 's classic quintet incl. also Miles Davis on the famous Dial sessions in the late 40's.
