It was of Tadd Dameron’s chart of “I’ll Wait and Pray” for the obscure De Luxe label and wasn’t much reissued, which no doubt accounts for its absence here.
Sometime in the Fall of 1942 (when Sarah was 18 years old), Vaughan suggested that Robinson enter the Apollo Amateur Night contest. Vaughan played piano accompaniment Robinson, who won second prize.
