In the run-up to Brothers in Arms he was making the soundtrack to the film Cal. We were driving up to the studio one day and got stuck in traffic.
1977: Ed Bicknell wird Manager der Dire Straits. 1978: Im Januar treten die Dire Straits als Vorgruppe der Talking Heads auf. Im Februar wird das erste Album "Dire Straits" aufgenommen. Im gleichen Jahr geht die Band auf Ihre erste große Tour in den Niederlanden, Belgien und Großbritannien. Das Album „Sultans of Swing" landet in den Charts.
