The Brief History of Emerson, Lake & Palmer. Emerson, Lake & Palmer (informally known as ELP) was an English progressive rock supergroup formed in London in 1970. The band consisted of K eith Emerson (keyboards) of the Nice , Greg Lake of King Crimson (vocals, bass, guitar, producer), and Carl Palmer of Atomic Rooster (drums, percussion).
Keith Noel Emerson (* 2. November 1944 in Todmorden, England; † 10. März 2016 in Santa Monica, Vereinigte Staaten) war ein dem Progressive Rock zuzuordnender britischer Keyboarder, Komponist und Pianist. Besonders erfolgreich war er in den 1970er Jahren mit der Band Emerson, Lake and Palmer.

Emerson, Lake & Powell had some success, and their sole album is considered one of the best of both Emerson's and Lake's careers. Stylistically, it was a departure from their 1980s progressive rock peers, Genesis and Asia.
