Esther Duflo is a leading economist who studies the economic lives of the poor and designs and evaluates social policies to help them. She is the Abdul Latif Jameel Professor of Poverty Alleviation and Development Economics at MIT and the co-founder and co-director of the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL). She has won many awards and honors, including the 2019 Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel.
