Biografie. Mario Bavas Vater, Eugenio Bava, ursprünglich ein Bildhauer und Maler, arbeitete schon in den frühen Tagen des italienischen Kinos als Kameramann. Nach einem gescheiterten Kunststudium assistierte Mario Bava seinem Vater bei Dreharbeiten. Schon bald war er selbst als Kameramann und Regieassistent tätig.
