The first was Eureka Stockade, a 1907 silent film, the second feature film produced in Australia. There have been a number of plays and songs about the rebellion.

Lieutenant-Governor Charles La Trobe visited the site and watched five men uncover 136 ounces of gold in one day. Mount Alexander was even richer than Ballarat.
