Recorded mostly on Turner's north Mississippi farm, the album was produced by Luther Dickinson. R.L. Boyce, Turner's nephew, contributed to the album. The sessions took place between 1992 and 1997. It was Dickinson's intention to simply make a document of Turner's music for Turner and his family.
Dickinson produced two records on Otha Turner, Everybody Hollerin' Goat and From Senegal To Senatobia. [1] In November 2007 Dickinson joined The Black Crowes. His recording debut with the band was on Warpaint in 2008, [2] and he has since appeared on the 2009 Black Crowes release Before the Frost...Until the Freeze. [3] .
6. Okt. 2022 · Luther produced Everybody Hollerin’ Goat, the 1998 album Turner recorded with his Rising Star Fife & Drum Band, and would drive him to performances. By then, Dickinson had formed the Allstars with his brother, Cody, and bassist Chris Chew.
Luther produced two records from Otha Turner, including Everybody Hollerin’ Goat, which was named one of the ten most important blues albums of the nineties. Luther and Cody co-produce North Mississippi Allstars records as the “Dickinson Brothers.
Dickinson produced two records on Otha Turner, Everybody Hollerin' Goat and From Senegal To Senatobia. Jazz critic Ted Gioia chose Blues & Ballads: A Folksinger's Songbook, Volumes 1 & 2 (New West, 2016) for the eleventh spot on his list of the top 100 albums of the year. In November 2007 Dickinson joined The Black Crowes.
