(1784–1833)King of Spain (1808–33). He succeeded to the throne after the forced abdication of his father, Charles IV, and was in turn forced by the French to abdicate in favour of Napoleon's brother, Joseph Bonaparte, spending the years of the Peninsular War in prison in France.
Ferdinand VII married in 1802 his first cousin Princess Maria Antonietta of the Two Sicilies, in 1816 his niece Maria Isabel de Bragança, Princess of Portugal, in 1819 Princess Maria Josepha of Saxony, lastly in 1829 his niece Maria Christina of Bourbon-Two Sicilies.
Ferdinand VII was King of Spain during the early 19th century. He reigned briefly in 1808 and then again from 1813 to his death in 1833. Before 1813 he was known as el Deseado, and after, as el Rey Felón.
