19. Apr. 2024 · In 1936, New York City Mayor Fiorello H. LaGuardia established the High School of Music & Art (M&A). Mayor LaGuardia's vision was to provide a place where NYC's most gifted public school students could pursue their talents in art or music while completing a full academic program.
11. Feb. 2024 · Fiorello H. Laguardia High School Of Music & Art & Performing Arts is a top rated, public school located in NEW YORK, NY. It has 2,383 students in grades 9-12 with a student-teacher ratio of 15 to 1. According to state test scores, 99% of students are at least proficient in math and 96% in reading.
This studio's performing groups include Elementary, Mixed, Girls, Women's, and Senior Choruses; Gospel Choir; and Show Choir. In addition there is an annual full-scale opera production. Music electives include chamber music, guitar, music technology, piano, and songwriting.
The Fine Arts Studio provides a rigorous conservatory experience in art education. During the first two years, traditional skills and disciplines are stressed through our foundation level courses which are required by all art majors regardless of what year they enter LaGuardia.
