Folkestone ( / ˈfəʊkstən / FOHK-stən) is a port town on the English Channel, in Kent, south-east England. The town lies on the southern edge of the North Downs at a valley between two cliffs. It was an important harbour, shipping port and fashionable coastal resort for most part of the 19th and mid 20th centuries.

Lage. Wo befindet sich Folkestone? Die Stadt liegt am Ärmelkanal in der Grafschaft Kent, etwas über 100 km südlich von London und 13 km westlich von Dover. Die Einfahrt zum Eurotunnel befindet sich ein bisschen außerhalb an der M20. Aufgrund der genialen Zugverbindung ist Calais in Frankreich gerade einmal eine halbe Stunde entfernt.
