François Hollande wurde am 12. August 1954 als Sohn eines Arztes und einer Sozialarbeiterin in Rouen in der Normandie geboren. Bereits als Schüler schloss er sich den Ideen der Sozialisten an. Nach der Schule studierte er Rechtswissenschaften an der Universität Panthéon-Assas Paris II, die er mit dem Diplom abschloss.
