Weller schloss sich der Band von South an, wechselte dann zu Billy Joe Royal und schließlich 1967 zur Rockgruppe Paul Revere & the Raiders. Revere ermöglichte ihm quasi die Chance, zur Country Music zurückzukehren, denn eine geplatzte Session Revere’s eröffnete Weller die Möglichkeit, diese Session für sich zu nutzen. Dabei nahm er „Games People Play“ auf.
