Fritz Albert Lipmann ( German pronunciation: [fʁɪt͡s ˈalbɛʁt ˈlɪpˌman] ⓘ; June 12, 1899 – July 24, 1986) was a German-American biochemist and a co-discoverer in 1945 of coenzyme A. For this, together with other research on coenzyme A, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1953 (shared with Hans Adolf Krebs ).

Fritz Lipmann was a Nobel Prize-winning biochemist who discovered co-enzyme A and its role in metabolism. He also studied the Pasteur effect, the metabolism of fibroblasts, and the chemical nature of some phosphate derivatives. He was born in Germany, studied medicine in Berlin and Munich, and worked at Rockefeller Institute, Harvard Medical School, and Massachusetts General Hospital.
