  4. ABOUT GALILEO. The Galileo Academy is located in the historic north end of San Francisco and was originally built in 1921. As of May 2015, Galileo has over 150 faculty and staff members and serves over 1,800 students. However, It is one of two schools in the Bay Area with an observatory. Galileo’s observatory is not in use at this time.
