Art of Noise (also The Art of Noise) were a British avant-garde synth-pop group formed in early 1983 by engineer/producer Gary Langan and programmer J. J. Jeczalik, along with keyboardist/arranger Anne Dudley, producer Trevor Horn, and music journalist Paul Morley.

As part of our celebration of the 30th Anniversary of ZTT Records, we recently caught up with Gary and spoke at length about his career and in particular his time at ZTT and working with the Art of Noise.
Gary Langan. British audio engineer and record producer, born 19 April 1956 in Surrey, England, UK. At age 18 he worked as an assistant engineer at Sarm East Studios. Later on he became director & senior engineer at Sarm West Studios (1979-1983).
Now famous for his work with The Art Of Noise and Trevor Horn, and productions for Spandau Ballet and Mick Jagger, Gary Langan was a fresh‑faced, 18‑year‑old assistant engineer at SARM when he came to work alongside Baker, Stone and Lyons on the 'Bohemian Rhapsody' mix.
