Gaston Eyskens Gaston Eyskens (1 April 1905 – 3 January 1988) was a Christian democratic politician and Prime Minister of Belgium. He was also an economist and member of the Belgian Christian Social Party. He served three terms as Prime Minister of Belgium, holding the position from 1949 to 1950, 1958 to 1961 and 1968 to 1973.

Die Regierung G. Eyskens I amtierte in Belgien vom 11. August 1949 bis zum 6. Juni 1950. Die Regierung Spaak IV eine Koalition von Sozialisten ( PSB/BSP) und Christdemokraten ( PSC / CVP ), wurde nach der Parlamentswahl 1949 durch eine vom Christdemokraten Gaston Eyskens geführte Koalition aus Christdemokraten und Liberalen ( PL/LP) abgelöst.
Am 25. April 1961 wurde er als Nachfolger von Gaston Eyskens zum Premierminister gewählt. Während seiner Amtszeit konnte es aufgrund einer wirtschaftlichen Hochkonjunktur unter anderem zu einem Ausbau der Universitäten, einer Steuerreform, einer Reform der Kranken- und Unfallversicherung sowie zu Verbesserungen des Jugendschutzes kommen ...
Gaston Eyskens (gästôN´ ī´skəns), 1905–88, Belgian political leader. He became a professor at the Univ. of Louvain in 1931. A Christian Socialist member of parliament (1939–73), he headed the ministry of finance (1945, 1947–49, 1965–66), served as governor of the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (1947–49), and was minister of economic affairs (1950).

Représentation. Le Gouvernement Gaston Eyskens I est le gouvernement belge du 11 août 1949 au 6 juin 1950. Il est composé de libéraux et de sociaux-chrétiens et compte 17 ministres. Il succède au Gouvernement Spaak IV, coalition du Parti socialiste belge (PSB) et du Parti social-chrétien unitaire (PSC), qui s’acheva le 27 juin 1949 1 .
