   Gauḍapāda is one of the early and most reputed philosophers of the Vedānta school in the Indian system of thought, who is believed to have lived during 500 C.E. He is the grand preceptor of Śaṅkaracarya, the systematizer of Advaita Vedānta, and the author of the Māṇdūkya kārikā, a commentary on the Upaniṣadic literature.
