Eugene Thurman Upshaw Jr. (August 15, 1945 – August 20, 2008), nicknamed "Uptown Gene" and "Highway 63", was an American professional football guard who played for the Oakland Raiders of the American Football League (AFL) and later the National Football League (NFL).
Gene Upshaw was a guard for the Oakland Raiders from 1967 to 1981, playing in three AFL and seven AFC championships and Super Bowls. He was a seven-time Pro Bowler, a 15-season starter, and a team leader who played center, tackle, and end in college.
